What Peter has to say

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO ENROL ON THE OUBEP SUMMER PROGRAMME?

Having studied economics as an undergraduate in a combined degree, OUBEP offered a great opportunity to revisit and learn more through the lens of my career experience.

Given my industry focus, 2022 was a great year to sign up, with all the macro-trends & world events giving us plenty of topical real-world challenges to discuss in the seminars and lectures.

HOW HAVE YOU USED YOUR LEARNING FROM OUBEP IN YOUR WORK?

My learning from OUBEP – both from the course content and experiences shared by fellow students – has really helped me to better make the link between the work I do with my clients and the wider economic trends and influences.

The deep dive we took in to market dynamics has really helped me contribute to our global planning activities by sector, thinking through where we expect to see our clients growing their businesses and therefore where we should also be looking to build our capabilities.

WHAT IMPACT HAS COMPLETING THE OUBEP SUMMER PROGRAMME HAD ON YOUR CAREER? AND FOR YOU PERSONALLY?

Even in the few months since graduating, I have already made the most of the opportunities to meet with the OUBEP alumni network and to participate in other OUBEP programmes.

Just recently, I was able to bring a delegation of committed I&D leaders from our company along to a fantastic diversity workshop. It was great to be able to share experiences with other organisations and support our most committed people in this area.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEBODY ENROLLING THEMSELVES OR AN EMPLOYEE ON THE OUBEP SUMMER PROGRAMME 2023?

The on-site week at Oxford is a fantastic experience. You have to fully engage with the topics at hand and are challenged to think hard about them, so it’s really important to take time away from day-to-day responsibilities as much as possible to make the most of it.

You will be fully immersed in the course and are exposed to world-class lecturers and speakers who make the course content accessible and relevant.
